The Phillies manage to take a series from a team. It hasn't been done since April 27, over a month ago, but the Phillies have finalls won a series. They were in jeopardy of tying a record from 1941 for 11 straight series losses, but they pull out another much needed win against San Francisco at home.
The Phillies now take to the road, and I'm talking with Steve Epstein from Atlanta Baseball Talk Podcast about the 2017 Braves. We're talking about Big Sexy, no not a pin up gal, but Bartolo Colon, the 43 year old wonder pitcher. Does he have enough left in the tank to make the whole season with the Braves?
We preview the series a little, talk about Ryan Howard and his short Braves minors career and a whole lot more on this show.
It's the Miami series preview and I'm joined by Matt Veasey, Phillies blogger, and baseball writer from CallToThePen.com. We talk about the upcoming series down in Miami, and can the Phillies get out of the basement of the NL East, and the worst record in baseball.
What is the best time to call up some of the Iron Pigs players to this Major League team? No time like the present is what a lot of people think. We'll talk about that as well as so much more on this edition of the show.
It's a celebration of sorts, the Phillies won today in extra innings to break a nasty losing streak. What a tough time it's been for them for the past month or so.

The Phils are down in Washington DC, they have already played them 9 times in the early season, but they got rained out on the night of this podcast. The road doesn't get any easier for the Phils, as they continue down to Texas after they play the Nationals in DC, who happen to be the best team in baseball.
Surprise, it's the Nationals. We'll already have faced them 9 times this season by the time this series is over. They are the hottest team in baseball as of tonight.
I am talking with Andrew Lang of TalkNats.com - the excellent Nationals blog and community so check them out! We're talking about this series vs. the Phillies, the TalkNats.com crew has a lot of respect for this young Phillies team.

Will we see Pete Rose on the Phillies Wall of Fame this year now that the Phils have permission to add him if they choose? We both agreed the time is 'now'.
The group of players that won the World Series with the Phillies have all gone from the team, now the team has a difficult position on whether or not the Phils will want to retire any of their numbers. We talk about this on the show as well.

It's the end of August, the Phils looked as if they may make things interesting for the stretch run a few weeks ago, but in the last could weeks that story has changed. They can't seem to sustain a win streak, and the offense is still one of the worst in baseball. They still have some respect though despite that dismal fact.
Tune into the show to hear some great talk on the team, some upcoming guests and more on this edition of the Phillies Talk Podcast with Rich Baxter.
